2 injured after plane crashes near busy interstate in Colorado, officials say [Video]

LARKSPUR, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) – Two people on board a small aircraft survived after crashing near the interstate Sunday morning in Colorado.

First responders with Colorado State Patrol and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Larkspur area just before 8 a.m. on reports of a downed aircraft.

The plane was found in a marshy area just east of the roadway.

Initially, officials told KKTV that the pilot and one passenger on board had to be rescued from the aircraft, but the sheriff’s office later said both were able to get out.

The pilot and passenger were then taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. Authorities have not released their conditions.

Based on the preliminary investigation, officials believe the pilot clipped a sign on the interstate while flying over, causing the plane to crash. The plane flipped over after touching down and was on its top with the wheels …
