TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – When it comes to choosing an auto repair shop, a Tucson family has a warning about sublet repairs.
In the automotive industry, subletting is when repair work is outsourced and performed by another shop.
It’s a widely used practice nationwide but when the work isn’t done correctly, customers can feel stranded.
“We trusted them,” said Briana Dain.

Dain said she didn’t authorize a local mechanic to outsource engine work on her son’s 1996 BMW.
When she called for an update, she said that’s when she learned the car was moved to another shop.
