Abbevilles Rane states only billionaire: Forbes [Video]

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WTVY) – Forbes reports that Abbeville businessman Jimmy Rane is Alabama’s only billionaire.

The publication claimed in its article “The Richest Person in Every State” that Rane, who founded Great Southern Wood Products, is worth $1.5 billion.

According to Forbes, Rane, also known as the ‘Yella Fella,’ is the only billionaire in the state. His moniker, derived from high-budget commercials reminiscent of cowboy movies, portrays him as a Western hero.

Rane, 77, grew up in Abbeville and continues to invest in its economy, including founding small businesses such as Huggin’ Molly, a unique downtown eatery named for a fictitious ghost.

He is an Auburn trustee and served as Alabama Governor Kay Ivey’s campaign chairman.
