East Trails student in Lee’s Summit police custody for TikTok threat [Video]

The Lee’s Summit School District Superintendent says a student has been taken into custody after a threatening message was posted to social media referencing a specific school.In a letter sent home to parents, Superintendent David Buck, said on Monday evening, Lee’s Summit Police and the FBI responded to a threatening message posted to TikTok regarding East Trails Middle School. Officers identified and made contact with the student connected to that post. “That student was taken into police custody and is not in school today thanks to this quick action,” Buck said in the letter.The statement goes on to say this threat was separate from the non-specific, vague social media threat made against a number of KC-area schools Sunday into Monday.Police were unable to corroborate those threats.”Threats like the ones we have responded to this week disrupt the learning environment for students and consume staff resources,” Buck said. “Please help us …
