Fire Lincoln airport head over Red Way failure [Video]

Nearly three months after Nebraska State Auditor Mike Foley called the startup Red Way airline “a failed riverboat gamble bankrolled by taxpayers,” a Lancaster County Commissioner has voiced — and penned — his displeasure.

County Commissioner Matt Schulte on Friday called for the Lincoln Airport Authority Board to fire Executive Director David Haring, a day after Haring presented a report at the County Board staff meeting.

Haring oversaw Red Way blowing through $3 million — $1.5 million each in American Rescue Plan Act funds from Lancaster County and the city of Lincoln — in less than three months last summer.

Someone should be held accountable, Schulte said.
