Georgetown County to restructure impact fees starting July 1 [Video]

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCSC) – As part of its new budget, Georgetown County will be changing the fees it charges on new developments starting July 1.

Impact fees are a one-time fee on new development to pay for part or all of the costs of providing public services. Georgetown County has had impact fees in place since 2008.

Last winter, Georgetown County Council made the decision to restructure impact fee rates, using a phased-in approach that will implement changes gradually over the next three years, with 75% of the new value being charged the first year, 85% the second year and 100% the third year.
