Iconic brand shutting down its only U.S. factory, moving production to Mexico [Video]

Tupperware is closing its factory in South Carolina.

According to multiple reports, Tupperware filed a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice in South Carolina informing the state it is closing its facility at 248 Tupperware Road in Hemingway, South Carolina.

Almost 150 people will be laid off due to the closure. The layoffs will take place between Sept. 28 and Jan. 14, 2025.

The WARN Act is federal legislation that offers protection to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered-business closing and covered-business mass layoff. The WARN notice was dated June 11, according to Penn Live.

According to the Orlando Business Journal, the South Carolina facility is the Orlando-based brand’s only U.S. factory. The facility’s operations will be transitioned to the company’s Lerma, Mexico plant.
