Liberty’s Venzant announces transfer, Flames pick up commitment from D2 transfer [Video]

A familiar face in the Liberty men’s basketball starting five in recent years announced this week his decision to enter the transfer portal.

Junior guard Joseph Venzant, who started in 96 of his 100 games at Liberty, became the fourth Flames player to enter the portal since the team’s season-ending defeat to UTEP in the Conference USA Tournament on March 14.

Venzant announced his decision via Instagram on Saturday.

“I am beyond grateful for my time here and I will forever value the relationships that have been built,” Venzant wrote. “I have am immense amount of belief in the LU basketball program, coaches and players — this is simply what I felt lead to do.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Texas native joins forward Ben Southerland and guards Brody Peebles and Jaylen Davis as players who have entered the portal this offseason, according to Rivals. Peebles is the lone player to choose a new home, announcing on social media this …
