A New Orleans civil rights icon will lie in state Friday at Gallier Hall. Tessie Prevost-Williams died earlier this month at the age of 69. Prevost-Williams was one of the New Orleans Four who made history by desegregating schools in New Orleans on Nov. 14, 1960. She, along with Gali Etienne, Leona Tate and Ruby Bridges, desegregated schools in the city. Her family has invited the public to pay respects at Gallier Hall on Friday. Along with funeral services, the public can also attend a special New Orleans Jazz Funeral March and Second Line on St. Claude Avenue starting at the TEP Center.
