Residents continue to have issues at Park at Hoover, lawmaker weighs in [Video]

HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) – Stephanie Hairston is one of several tenants from The Park at Hoover who have contacted WBRC for help. She says she’s been dealing with a leak for over a week, and it’s left her carpet soaked.

“My husband passed away, and it’s just me, so I don’t have the luxury to go and stay at the hotel until this issue is resolved,” says Hairston. “And I feel like as old as I am, I should be able to take care of myself, and if I’m doing what is asked of me per the lease agreement, then you should do what you’re supposed to do per the lease agreement.”

Legal experts and some lawmakers say leases usually favor the landlord or leasing company. That’s why State Representative Juandalynn Givan says it’s important to understand your lease and not be afraid to ask questions before you move in.
