Santa Ana bans short-term rentals [Video]

Santa Ana is becoming the latest city in Orange County to ban short-term rentals.

The ban went into effect on April 3, according to the Orange County Register.

Supporters of the ban say that rentals can impact the quality of life, while opponents say that rentals can help homeowners pay bills and supplement their incomes..

“All they see is a cash cow and I’m sorry if that is your business, but we don’t want that kind of business here,” said one Santa Ana councilmember opposing the ban.“Our residents don’t want that kind of business, but I’m not gonna take away an opportunity from, you know, a family that’s trying to make the mortgage work.”

A councilmember who supports the ban said that most short-term rentals are causing problems in the neighborhood.
