Several standout Louisiana State University athletes will compete in the coming days in the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which are held ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. On Friday, Sha’Carri Richardson, Aleia Hobbs and Mikiah Brisco will compete in the first round of the women’s 100-meter race. Richardson, a favorite to win this qualifier, will likely advance to the semifinals and later secure her spot in the finals Saturday night. She has to finish among the top three to make the Olympic team. She won the gold medal in the 100m world championships in Budapest in 2023. Richardson lost her chance in 2020 to compete in the Toyoko Olympics following a positive drug test for marijuana. Hobbs is also vying for a spot on the team in the 100-meter race.
