Summer EBT ordinance passed by NOLA City Council to fill the gap for kids in need [Video]

A potential new partnership would give $1 million to Second Harvest Food Bank, which, in turn, provide families families with $80 gift cards so they can buy food over the summer. It’s an idea to keep families fed in New Orleans during the summer months to get the green light from the New Orleans City Council’s Budget Committee.It’s all about summer EBT and the city council’s plan to fill in the gaps just in case they cannot rely on the state for funding. Officials with Second Harvest Food Bank said New Orleans is the second most food-insecure city in the United States.That is not to mention that studies show constant hunger can lead to abuse and higher crime rates.
