The Department of Housing has announced €696m in Local Property Tax (LPT) allocations for local authorities in 2025.

A total of €552m of this has been yielded by local authorities through baseline LPT taxation, with a further €144m in equalisation funds from the Exchequer where LPT intake falls below the threshold for service provision.

The additional €75m in baseline funding that was allocated for 2024 has also been brought forward to 2025.

Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien said: “Local Authorities play a vital role in the delivery of services to our citizens. Following the conclusion of a working group set up to conduct a review of baseline funding, this government increased the LPT baseline by more than €75m in 2024.
