Tri-State woman leaves financial corporation to empower underserved communities [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A Cincinnati native is on a mission to empower the community by teaching them the tools of financial literacy.

Barbara Turner has spent more than 30 years in financial services, working with top-level employers. But after several decades of working to help large corporations, she decided to step away to build a new path: Helping those who need it most.

For decades, Turner has been all-business helping companies with their portfolios, investing, buying and trading.

”I started off in banking. I spent some time in the trust department and during that period of time I knew that financial services was going to be my vocation,” Turner told FOX19 NOW.

The University of Cincinnati alumna had to overcome several barriers in her lifetime to become the first female in the country to complete the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority CRCP program at Wharton.
