MOODY, Ala. (WBRC) – SJ O’Brien started making and selling reindeer food four years ago to help raise money for his neighbor, Braylyn. Braylyn was battling cancer and SJ wanted to help her with treatment costs. He raised more than $3,000 for Braylyn that Christmas.
“It’s something that I know is a good thing in the world that I can do. And just a small part to help out everyone else,” said SJ.
Now the initiative is in its fourth year. This year proceeds from the reindeer food will go towards the 411 Kids Foundation. SJ’s goal is to raise $1,000 and is a little over $200 away.
SJ starts making the bags of reindeer food before Christmas. He has help from his sister, Maci and his friend, Sophie. Sophie was the recipient of the money during SJ’s second year of making the reindeer food as she battled a bone disease.
