MSD Ireland has agreed to acquire the WuXi Vaccines manufacturing facility in Dundalk, Co Louth for €500m.
The deal will increase the size of MSD’s footprint in Ireland to eight locations, and the company plans to add 150 jobs at the 15,520 sq m Dundalk site over the next 12 months.
Around 200 people work on site at present.
The site offers drug substance manufacturing, drug product manufacturing, and quality control labs for the supply of vaccine products for the global market, and the purchase builds on the €3bn MSD has invested in Ireland over the past three years.
MSD currently employs 3,000 people across counties Carlow, Cork, Dublin, Louth, Meath and Tipperary, and the company intends to add 1,000 jobs over the next 12 months.
