OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A murder trial in the death of an Omaha woman in 2020 set to begin in April in Douglas County isn’t going to happen.
Jerry Johnson, 59, changed his plea earlier this month. He is now pleading guilty to second-degree murder, according to documents filed Jan. 9.
He had previously been charged with first-degree murder in the murder of Ebony King. The mother and small business owner was killed April 15, 2020, near north 25th Street and Hartman Avenue.
Johnson is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 26.
A second suspect in the case ended up pleading “no contest” to robbery, down from first-degree murder, and is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 27.
Judge Peter C. Bataillon is presiding over the case.
