CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The public had a chance to see the plans for a 279-acre development in Springville, just south of the Highway 151 interchange.
The developer said the project will be done in conjunction with the DOT’s interchange project where they aim to make that intersection safer. It plans to build a 20-foot interchange with a stone façade.
“We’ll be under soil right here,” said Civil Engineer Lisa Burch with YTT Design out of Cedar Rapids.
Burch said the nearly 280-acre development could include housing, a senior living center, a sports complex, or a retail business.
“This is a large development in the small town of Springville,” said Burch.
Burch and the landowners brought the plans to the city Planning Commission where some residents said they were worried about the traffic this development will bring.
“Why would you want an interchange with truck traffic,” said one resident.
