BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) – It’s a big announcement from organizers looking to give homeless veterans their own community in Sarpy County.
The 50 Mile March Foundation said it has bought seven acres of land in near 36th Street and Capehart Road in Bellevue for its Community of Hope.
It’s a planned village with more than 20 tiny homes for veterans, similar to the Siena Francis House cottages in Omaha. It will include an on-site case manager and job opportunities for residents to learn basic job skills and remote work. There will also be access to addiction recovery and mental health services, providing support to vets experiencing homelessness or PTSD.
