THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE: It’s a cool and unsettled start to this Mother’s Day across central and eastern Colorado, including the Denver area.

We’ll have showers around mainly this morning in the Denver area, then perhaps a brief break around midday before popcorn hit-or-miss showers and rumbles of thunder for this afternoon. So, it’s not a total washout, but it’s not a particularly nice day with more clouds than sun and rain chances most of the day. Highs will be in the mid-60s, a few degrees below average.

Meantime in the mountains, some spots picked up a significant winter storm overnight. Leadville saw about 18 inches of snow, while Fairplay picked up a foot of fresh May snowfall! That’s led to some issues mainly at or above 10,000 feet in elevation.
