Middleburg Heights mural to be installed in coming months [Video]

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – One of the Middleburg Heights Master Plan’s objectives is to bring more art into the community, and a uniquely crafted mural will do just that upon installation in the next few months.

Slated to adorn the exterior, Pearl Road-facing wall of the JOANN Fabric and Craft Store building in the Southland Business District, the multi-panel 72-ft. by 20-ft. artwork by local artist Hector Vega showcases every area of the city. The metal surface is weather-resistant to preserve the vibrant colors.

Members of the Middleburg Heights City Club unveiled a small version of the mural at the June 25 City Council meeting.

City Club representative Anthony Crea said project planning took place over the past few years.

“This is going to cost the city virtually nothing,” Crea told council, citing financial backing from multiple sources. “We retain the rights to the design, so the city can use it for other things.

“While it seems large, it’s actually the perfect size for over in that area.”
