Room in the Inn seeking new host sites for emergency winter weather shelters [Video]

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – While the summer heat is still in full swing, volunteers with Room in the Inn are searching preemptively for local businesses or churches to join their network of host sites for their Emergency Winter Shelter Program.

Room in the Inn in Bowling Green currently partners with a network of churches across the city, working to provide overnight housing for the homeless population from Nov. 15 – March 15. Daily registration for the shelter runs 5-5:30 p.m. before guests are transported to host sites.

“A host church will come pick them up for the night and take them back to the church, they’ll feed them a meal, maybe watch a movie or two. They’re in a place where they’re safe and they’re warm, they’re out of the elements for the night,” explained Room in the Inn board chair, Dewayne Conner.
