Aurora, Mo. is the latest city in southwest Missouri to establish a railroad quiet zone [Video]

AURORA, Mo. (KY3) – A loud sound in the city of Aurora has been silenced. Starting this week, some people will no longer hear the jarring blare of train horns.

The Federal Railroad Administration and Aurora city leaders have teamed up to create a quiet zone. A zone created to prevent trains from blowing their horns while passing by.

”It’s in the center of town and there is quite a bit of residential neighborhoods in this area,” said John Holmes, City of Aurora city manager.

Less than a mile from the railroad, lives Kenny Ebert. “I’m used to it. It’s been here so long,” he says.

The blare of train horns isn’t much of a bother for him, but instead, he worries for others.
