RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally starts at the end of this week, and hotels and campgrounds in the area are getting ready for the busiest three weeks of the year.
With tons of traffic already on the roads this week, people are pouring in to get a head start on the fun. Harley Davidson estimates that around 500,000 people are in attendance each year.
The owner of the Sturgis Motel, Rhonda Brown, explained that even though the rally hasn’t started yet, there are benefits to coming early.
“More hotel availability and the prices are a lot less. And yet they’re still going to get some of the vendors and there’s still a lot of live bands playing, and so they’re still going to get rally, just without the full rally.” Brown said.
Even though the Rally is the busiest time of year for Brown, she said there was still availability at the motel.
