The ankle monitoring system for juveniles in New Orleans is under scrutiny after a series of crimes committed by unmonitored teens has led to calls for justice and system reform. Two years ago, WDSU Investigates first reported that teens on ankle monitors in New Orleans were not being monitored. It is a problem the Orleans Parish District Attorney said his office is aware of. “It is a big problem, Cassie. I think you’re really on to something in terms of why repeat offenders are creating new problems for community members and causing more harm after they’ve already been arrested,” said District Attorney Jason Williams.
