Cedar Rapids non-profit working to build community to Save Us From Us [Video]

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – New data from Cedar Rapids police show a decrease in shots fired calls every month so far this year. Leaders with the Cedar Rapids based non-profit Save Us From Us say that’s a good sign that events like the one they held on Wednesday are working.

Tony Chapman is the founder of non-profit Save Us From Us. He says the event held at Time Check Park on Wednesday evening is one step towards his goal of unity. “You know, sometimes we are our own problem, sometimes we, you know, tarnish ourselves without even knowing,” says Chapman. “So maybe if we know each other, we meet new people here at these events, introduce each other to each other and just see each other out at Walmart. See each other out at Casey’s gas station. Say hey, I remember you from at the event.”
