Cairo women bring small businesses, towns together for farmers market [Video]

CAIRO, Neb. (KOLN) – On Tuesday nights, a little corner on main street fills up fast at the Cairo Farmer’s Market.

“I like to see the creativity that people have,” said Beverly Wiebe-Brown, who lives in Cairo. “I like the fresh produce, the baked goods and seeing friends and neighbors from the communities around here.”

The farmer’s market is something the area has wanted for a while.

“I mean, I feel like there’s so many local businesses that a lot of local people don’t even know about, especially maybe the older generation who won’t have Facebook and Instagram to know of these small businesses,” said Sady Gorecki, a co-organizer and vendor.

After seeing support for the idea on Facebook, a group of women decided to bring these businesses to the surface.
