Clay County prosecutor working to stop scams, exploitation through proactive presentations [Video]

Clay County prosecutor Zachary Thompson is scheduling special presentations this fall to stop people from falling victim to scams and exploitation.Thompson will present his Citizen Education Against Scams and Exploitation, or C.E.A.S.E., program at several Mid-Continent Public Libraries in the coming weeks.Thompson says he wants to help you keep your money and possessions safe.“So often in the prosecutor’s office we get a case after the damage is done, right after someone has been victimized after they lost money,” he said. “This is a proactive tool aimed at giving folks the information they need so they can protect themselves.”KMBC 9 Investigates has talked to several people on both sides of the state line over the past few weeks who are getting calls and texts from scammers.Thompson says you should bring your family members to the presentation, to start conversations with younger or older people in your family to make sure they’re …
