4 Lowcountry school districts announce schedule changes amid continued flooding [Video]

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) – Four school districts across Berkeley, Dorchester and Colleton Counties announced schedule changes over the weekend as flooding in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Debby made some roads impassable.

Three of the districts postponed the first day of classes this week. The fourth, in which classes already began, switched to an eLearning day for Monday.

Berkeley County School District

Berkeley County students will return to school later than originally planned, district leaders announced Saturday.

The first day of school has been moved to Thursday, according to district spokesperson Katie Tanner. The move gives teachers and staff more time to prepare and students an extra day of summer break after flooding prevented access to school buildings for three days, she said.
