MENASHA, Wis. (WBAY) – Back for another year in Northeast Wisconsin, the U.S. Venture Open continues raising millions of dollars to help people in need in our region.
We looked into one local nonprofit that’s thriving thanks to support the fundraising golf outing.
For decades, the U.S. Venture Open has been a staple on Northeast Wisconsin.
The annual golf event raised $65 million since its inception in 1968 to help address poverty in our part of the state, helping difference-makers like Laura Kuehl.
“I had a really hard experience in foster care, and then we were foster parents as well,” says Kuehl.
Tapping into her own experience, Kuehl founded HeadsUp Fox Cities in 2023.
The program is dedicated to serving transitional-age youth who have dealt with family trauma or trauma from the welfare system.
It’s a program made possible thanks to the $30,000 basic needs giving partnership grant from the U.S. Venture Open.
