Sterling church badly damaged after electrical fire [Video]

STERLING, Neb. (KOLN) – Heartache and headache in the small town of Sterling. That’s where an electrical fire started in the basement of St. John Lutheran Church.

The congregation there is now picking up the pieces and looking toward the future. The church is posting some of the photos of the damage on its Facebook and on a GoFundMe page.

Deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office were called to the church at around 7 p.m. on Friday. The firefighting efforts also left smoke and water damage to the sanctuary floor, grand piano and several other items.

The church was built in 1895.
