WALKER, W.Va. (WTAP) – Starting with a grand opening on September 7, the Mountwood Market will bring local produce vendors, meat vendors, craft makers, bakers and more together outside the Volcano Museum.
Market Coordinator Jeromy Hauser said he and his wife Rebecca Walter wanted to start the market to give people who live in and around Walker a nearby place to get high-quality goods.
“We really wanted a place for our community to come together so we can have locally grown products, produce, create income streams for local residents that are doing crafting and stuff like that,” he said.
It’s also a matter of convenience, Hauser said.
“I felt like out here in this rural community, we really needed it,” he said. “It’s 45 minutes to get to the local grocery store, and a lot of people live up here. And this is just a great meeting point so we can all come together on the weekend.”
