WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) – Public school students in Waterbury headed back to class on Monday.
The start of the school year is always about fresh starts for both students and staff.
“I still got the first day jitters,” said Randy Ramdin, a senior at Career High School. “Even after four years of doing it.”
“I’m kind of upset, kind of happy,” said Haylie Johnson, also a senior.
Both students described it as a bitter-sweet feeling. They were seniors on their first day of high school.
“I’m looking forward to of course graduating and spending one last year with my friends,” Ramdin said.
In Waterbury, there were a lot of new initiatives on tap.
One of them involves Yondr pouches. They’re a magnetic locking smart phone pouch to keep phones out of reach during the school day for students from 6th to 12th grade.
