Hospital executives have threatened to lock out Kapiolani’s union nurses in response to the strike that starts on Sept. 13. They also plan to use traveling nurses to take care of patients.

The clock is ticking because the Hawaii Nurses Association is supposed to go on a one-day strike on Friday, the 13th, which would be their second walk out of the year.
