Former NFL player Matt Ioannidis gets coaching start in Pa. [Video]

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — The Mechanicsburg Wildcats football team has a different look to it this season in more ways than one. 

New head coach Dave Heckard is surrounding his coaching staff with some of those who have done it at the highest level, including former NFL defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis, who’s jumping into coaching with the team. 

“Matt comes with a wealth of knowledge in what he brings to the table,” said Heckard. “It’s been fun for me learning from him. I met him through some common friends and he’s been a huge asset.”

Ioannidis is on staff as the Wildcats assistant defensive line coach. Following his playing days he’s made south-central Pennsylvania his new home, and when Heckard called- coaching was just the thing he needed to get back in …
