OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Officials have placed Douglas County under a burn ban starting Monday, Sept. 30.

A release says that the decision was made based on expert advice from the National Weather Service.

In a social media post, officials say that fire conditions will climb into the “very high” and “extreme” categories Monday afternoon.

Due to dry air and breezy winds, fire danger will climb into the “very high” and “extreme” categories on Monday afternoon. Because of this, a burn ban in Douglas County is in effect, starting Monday, Sept. 30 and will be in effect until conditions improve. pic.twitter.com/Nq2txipXsZ

“Any fires that develop will likely spread quickly. For that reason, outdoor burning is not recommended,” said Travis Harlow, DC Fire Chief Representative.

The ban is in effect until conditions improve, a report says.
