MLB Playoffs: Padres Pitcher to Have Season-Ending Surgery [Video]

The San Diego Padres saw the best of Joe Musgrove for the last month of the regular season.

The hope of seeing him at his best again will have to wait at least another year.

Musgrove will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow that will sideline him for the remainder of the 2024 postseason and into 2025 as well, general manager A.J. Preller said Friday in Los Angeles.

“I’m devastated about not being able to finish what we started,” Musgrove said. “I’m not all that concerned about the work, the rehab and the time off — I know how to work hard — it’s just a matter of coming to grips with that, this is it for me.”
