DEWITT, Iowa (KCRG) – A man from Iowa is running across America to raise money for veterans. Nels Matson from Ames, Iowa started his run in San Francisco, California and he’ll end it in New York City.
He’s hoping to break a world record for fastest coast-to-coast crossing of the United States by foot, but his main goal is to raise $100 for each mile he runs, totaling to $306,700, for the Wounded Warrior Project.
“I’m very inspired and thankful for those who have served, who’ve given me the rights and freedom to be able to do something like this, to be able to go across the United States,” Matson said.
