Construction to start on new intermediate school in Madison County | News [Video]

Construction is about to start on a new intermediate school coming to Madison County.

Sparkman Intermediate will be more than 100,000 square feet with 44 different classrooms. The school is the first to be built in more than a decade for the Madison County School District. 

The new building is 16 years in the making. Sparkman Intermediate is set to open its doors in 2026 with an estimated 800 students. The school has the capability of housing 1,200. 

The campus will serve Madison Cross Roads, Toney, and Harvest areas north of Highway 53. Madison County Schools Superintendent Ken Kubik says Sparkman Intermediate will help with overcrowding.
