Apple farmers impacted by Hurricane Helene in western NC make it to NC State Fair [Video]

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Tucked in a corner at the North Carolina State Fair, you’ll find a small cabin-like structure where Trey Enloe serves his fresh-pressed apple cider.

“Each apple will add a unique detail to the cider — I try changing it up every year so customers get a new experience,” said Enloe.

The 5^th generation apple grower from Hendersonville said Bright Branch Farms has been in the family for more than 100 years. They grow more than 50 varieties of apples and have diversified the business over time. After starting with wholesales, Enloe said the farm now presses their own juice and is a big supplier for the hard cider industry.

“I grow the apples, we press the juice, we pasteurize it, and then bring it down here. Then we sell it and pour it— we’re involved in the whole process,” said Enloe.
