Back to the starting line for Pickens County on ambulance service [Video]

PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – It’s back to the drawing board for Pickens County; find another revenue stream to sustain its second ambulance service.

You’ll recall all the governments in the county agreed to pitch-in financially over the spring and summer to keep two ambulances and two separate crews going. However, that method got too expensive for some.

Starting Friday, Oct. 25, there will be only one ambulance servicing the entire county. A permanent fix may be on the way, but much of that will depend on Pickens County voters.

There were two ambulances, now there’s one; only one team around to run a single ambulance to serve a county of about 20,000.

“We need the citizens to do their part to support this money for the ambulance service so we can continue to have extra ambulance,” said Carrolton mayor Mickey Walker more than a week ago.
