MOVILLE, Iowa — With nine minutes left in its Class A first round matchup with Sibley-Ocheyedan, Woodbury Central had been punched in the mouth at home to start Friday’s closing half.
The Generals had scored two unanswered touchdowns to go up 21-14, forcing the Wildcats into multiple uncharacteristic mistakes including a botched kickoff to start the second half. Running back Dominic Marco and quarterback Kayne Julius had finally gotten into a groove, and everything had been going the Generals way coming out of halftime.
With hopes of getting back to the Class A state title game on the line for Woodbury Central, they had nine minutes to save its season.
“We told the boys ‘It is do or die,’” Woodbury Central head coach Kurt Bremer said. “We don’t get a second chance at it.”
