Halloween festivities in downtown Chico | News [Video]

CHICO, Calif. – Downtown Chico businesses are giving kids a head start on their trick-or-treating with Chico Treat Street.

For people going all out in dressing up, you might want to join the costume contest at the city plaza. Over 50 businesses are taking part in the Halloween festivities today.

Action News Now spoke with one business owner who wants to make sure nobody leaves empty-handed.

“We are handing out candy from 2-5,” Carol Munson said. “You better come get it. We have great fall clothes, so I will see everyone in here.”

When you are done getting your candy and shopping downtown, you have the chance to win the best costume and there will be five different categories:

• Spookiest costume
• Cutest
• Best handmade
• Pop culture
• Best group costumes
