Thunderbirds collecting donations for Mayflower Marathon [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Starting Friday, the Springfield Thunderbirds will serve as a host site for Mayflower Marathon donations in the lobby of the MassMutual Center.

Fans are encouraged to bring in canned goods and other non-perishable food items to the MassMutual Center throughout the entire month of November.

Friday marked the first game the T-Birds collected donations, and we caught up with Thunderbirds President Nathan Costa to learn more about why this partnership is so important.

“We want to drum up more attention just not around Thanksgiving but the whole month of November, so hopefully this will help and we can get our fans to rally behind it and bring out some canned goods to our games here in November,” he said.
