The New York Mets have the financial capacity to afford any MLB free agent they want thanks to team owner Steve Cohen’s deep pockets. The trade market is also an option, though. Can president of baseball operations David Stearns swing a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox for both pitcher Garrett Crochet and outfielder Luis Robert Jr.?

New York has been linked in the rumor mill to Crochet, who is expected to get dealt at some point this winter. Three-fifths of the Mets’ 2024 starting rotation has hit free agency, so there are holes to fill. They could also use a center fielder – Harrison Bader is a free agent and Tyrone Taylor is better suited as a fourth outfielder.
