DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A petition has been started to try and prevent Prairie View Elementary from adding single-user bathrooms. The bathrooms, which would have communal sinks, would be added when the school builds its new 5th-grade wing.
It’s a petition started by parent Grace Kurtz that is sparking conversation. On the petition page, she references her child with Crohn’s disease and young girls going through their monthly cycle. She adds no child should be subject to embarrassment when it comes to emotional and physical challenges.
Superintendent Ned Clooten says things would be safer with these new stalls.
“We do have incidents where we have kids using cell phones to maybe take pictures or putting cameras over the top of them. So there are definitely instances with those community restrooms, and just the stalls that we are trying to overcome and …
