The Northeast Portland eyesore, after avoiding auction in September, will be back on the auction block for a starting bid of $225,000.
PORTLAND, Ore. — After sidestepping a foreclosure auction in September, the graffiti-covered, former Gordon’s Fireplace Shop is headed back to the auction block next month.
Located near Interstate 84, the 27,000-square-foot property, built in 1918, is set at a starting bid at $225,000, with the auction scheduled Dec. 16 through Dec. 18.
A KGW investigation found that despite plans for renovation, the building has fallen into disrepair, generating neighbor complaints. Between June 2023 and May 2024, the police have been called twice for incidents at the building, and around 31 calls were made due to incidents within 200 feet of the property — mostly for disorder, according to city of Portland report recommending foreclosure.
