RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Flashing traffic lights at McCarran and Plumb may have been the first indication of today’s planned power outage.
The closed signs of businesses in the area were another indication.
Drivers in the area may have wondered what’s going on inside the houses in the area, and if homeowners wished they had another power source.
Some may be thinking about a generator. Not the $25,000 dollar kind, but the $300 to $800 dollar kind that could power only the essentials.
“It is something you might consider personally this year because you could run your fridge, or the freezer in the garage,” says Patrick Hansen of Shelly’s Hardware in Sparks. “And you could run an extension cord to your bedroom or a certain room in your house you want to keep warm with a radiator heater.”
