JEFFERSON CITY — The Jefferson City Tax Increment Financing Commission is seeking approval from the city council to move forward with a large redevelopment plan near Christy Drive.
The TIF plan will provide funding for a hotel, a soccer complex and other new businesses in the area off U.S. 54.
TIF committee member Paul Prevo gave said the primary goal behind the project is community-focused.
“The important thing to remember when you’re considering a TIF is it can’t just be a benefit for the person applying for the TIF,” Prevo said. “It needs to be a benefit for the community in the long run.”
The project is located next to the Special Olympics Missouri facility. Businesses along Christy Road have said the area’s revitalization could benefit them, as well.
